What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love sharing my passion for maths and physics with like-minded students, especially those who may be struggling in those areas. I enjoy problem solving and finding ways to approach topics in a unique way so that the student may understand the subject matter better. I also believe that teaching maths and physics would allow me to cement my own understanding of the subjects, all whilst being an extremely fulfilling job.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe I have the ability to approach topics/questions from the perspective of a student who has not encountered them before. I work with the student to deconstruct problems, and assist them in gathering the necessary information and procedures in order to reach a solution. I believe one of my strengths is pattern-recognition, and helping my students to see the patterns in the problems they are presented with, allowing them to solve them more efficiently and accurately.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is prepare them for the unexpected.
While it's important that the student can understand and solve general problems they may be presented with, the only way to achieve an A grade is to go above and beyond what is expected of them.
This can only be achieved if the student is confident in their ability to solve problems no matter how difficult they may seem. As a tutor, this confidence can be instilled in a student by teaching them a reliable problem solving method and ensuring that their understanding of the topic is rock solid.

Molly was well engaged and mostly prepared for the session as normal. She is responsive and always tries her best to answer any questions that I propose. She is good at admitting when she isn't sure of something. With some guidance from me through the practice questions, she was able to correctly identify and notate the domain and range of some functions by the end of session.
We went through some questions involving graphing quadratics to find the domain and range and Molly didn't seem to have any idea of how to go about doing this. This process was a part of the last topic she did in maths. I helped her through how to factorise a quadratic, how to identify the roots, and how to find the vertex point. Although she was able to do the maths once I'd helped her, I suggested she tried some more of these types of questions alone to practice.

Molly was engaged and prepared for the session. She told me she felt as though she had done well on the test last week. We went through some problems from the current topic, focusing on finding linear equations from 2 points, revising simultaneous solving methods, solving multistep worded problems, and the domain and range of functions and how these values are affected by real world constraints. We also went over Molly's draft of her Features of Polynomials assignment. Molly seems quite confident with the basics of the current topic and seems to understand the process of substituting points into a function to find unknowns. She has also done well with her assignment draft. She responded well to my help and seemed to understand what was required of her to complete the assignment.
Molly needed some reminding about when to substitute values for x into the function vs when to solve for x from values of y when we were doing some problem solving questions. She required some prompting to answers questions concerning the meaning of the values of the solutions (i.e. the context of the problem). She had been a bit confused about what certain parts of the assignment required from her, and some of her analyses didn't make complete sense. I definitely think that with some feedback (from me and her teacher) she will be able to improve upon this dramatically.

Molly was well engaged and prepared for the session. She took note of the questions she struggled with in class for us to go through. She is able to work independently to try to answer more difficult questions after some light prompting. She also handed up her assignment draft with no concerns.
She appears to have trouble identifying how to approach different types of questions using the knowledge she has. Once prompted, she usually knows how to answer a question without too much help. I believe it would be beneficial for her to do more practice questions and refer to worked examples for help.

Molly was engaged and is obviously a very bright student. She seemed more confident about how to approach the rest of her assignment after we went through it together. She seems to be doing quite well with her current math topic.
She needed some prompting in order to make certain connections when doing the trigonometry questions. This is a lot to do with just practice and memorisation ability, and is easily improved upon.
