What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
When learning hard concepts there is a "click" moment. When everything you have learned comes together like cogwheels and you understand the full picture and operation.
My greatest joy in teaching comes when I provide the "click" experience to my students. When it happens, I can see my students understand the joy of learning and gain the confidence to further push themselves to their best potential. It is every tutor's dream to spark the genius in students and the most enjoyable part is when I simply prod and nudge their knowledge to "click" in their head and see the magic happen.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
When I teach students, I normally try to adapt teaching techniques that I observed from several teachers and tutors that taught me. Furthermore, I try to incorporate learning methods that I used when I was trying to comprehend hard concepts.
These strategies include,
- Giving real-life examples or applications when teaching theories
- Focusing on understanding the concepts and basics so they can recall knowledge from logical deduction rather than simple memorization
- Referring to previous content when teaching new content to show the connection and continuity
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
As teachers have to look over a lot of students, students who fall behind or struggle with conventional learning styles only get a limited amount of help. This is where the tutor jobs come in and provide a customized learning experience that is ideal and unique to each student.
Tutors are like safety inspectors where they
1. Recheck their basic knowledge is solid
2. Strengthen weak links in their knowledge
And furthermore, it is important to try to teach ahead and give a preview to create a framework of the knowledge they will learn soon and connect it to what they have learned previously.
