What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy working with students to see them improve their results over time at a level which they honestly did not expect. It rewards me to work closely with a student and focus on areas of weakness so that they can eventually be built into areas of strength. I enjoy the personal aspect of tuition and as aforementioned, this goes hand in hand with mentoring a student. A good tutor is also a good mentor. I get the most enjoyment when I am confronted with a student who really does not believe in themselves or that they could ever excel - and then 'show them the light'!
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strengths as a tutor come from being a genuinely compassionate person, and also a driven person. I empathise with students who have difficulty in the art of essay-writing and responding accurately to the questions. I actually 'care' about the students and want to see them out-perform their expectations. My strong points include having a clear structure from which I focus a plan of learning, & an ability to form a positive strong relationship with students. I am also highly-skilled at English and therefore this is a strength in getting students to achieve the higher tier to top tier results.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing that a tutor can do at first, is build a rapport and a relationship of trust. In order to connect with a student, a tutor must be able to forge a strong connection that is much the same as a mentor to a younger generation. Further from this, a tutor must be able to assess the genuine ability of a student - this is crucial, so that it is easy to determine where there is weakness and where there is strength - and then balance this into a plan to improve the weaknesses and capitalise on the strengths. A tutor's primary role is to increase the performance of a student.

Alex is not doing enough 'hard yacker' to get the results he is capable of. He had neglected to review several of the available poems and chose to risk having the ones he'd selected hopefully appear. I encouraged him to be prepared to work harder as that is the only way to success.

Abigail is improving in her ability to write and communicate effectively. She seems to have gotten on top of the essential elemental criteria and necessities to produce a good response.
Abigail did well and scored a 17/20 for her in-school assessment, however, we/she still needs to work on mastering the basics, most predominantly with a focus on structure and maintaining the same momentum throughout the response.
Alex went well in understanding all the essential elements that are required for a high-tier response. He seems above board beyond many of the students I tutor.

Sticking to the basics - that is, never forgetting your topic sentences (and what they are - this needed a bit of clarification). And ensuring that he answers the question
His homework was to continue and complete the run-off of the audio for the podcast. He was able to structure his response overall pretty well.

A little more work needed to change an analytical essay into a creative-writing type piece of work. Overall though, he is improving in the relevant areas.
