What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I have always enjoyed tutoring, ever since I began informal group study sessions in high-school and university. My formal tutoring experience in the past has highlighted to me why I enjoy it so much. I believe it stems from my own passion to learn but also to impart my knowledge to others. I get excited when I see my students work out questions in their head and truly understand the concept. If they do not, I love the process of helping navigate them in their learning and hopefully inspire them to excel to their potential.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
- Very friendly and positive attitude.
- Easy to talk and open to any questions.
- Make the effort to create resources for students before class.
- Happy to go over time to ensure student understands concept without charging extra.
Most important things I can do for a student π
- Being open and being a conversationalist has to be the most important priority to ensure that the student feels comfortable enough to ask questions. You cannot learn a concept unless you actively engage and ask questions!
- Being well prepared for a class and I believe this not only involves knowing the content thoroughly enough to teach BUT also being prepped to approach the class in a good systematic way. This can make the learning optimal for the student.
- Being able to create resources so that the student can test themselves after class on their own time. Practise makes perfect!

- He needed a bit of help figuring out which rules to use and figuring out the shortest possible way to the answer but he got there in the end.
He understood all the equations and their application. Quick to grasp concepts that students might find difficult so the lesson went smoothly.

Choosing between the different rules depending on the question can be challenging for him. But this is just a matter of practise.
Oliver was very co-operative and engaging in his lessons. He grasped the concepts fairly quickly which I was very pleased about.
