What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I've always loved teaching and working with people. I enjoy getting to know my students and giving them tips and advice on progressing through high school. It brings me so much joy to help students understand their syllabus and complex concepts, and see their confidence and independence grow. I enjoy giving back to my community and I believe tutoring is one of the best ways to do this. I love that the work allows me to use my recent understanding of high school to empathise and relate with the struggles, questions and concerns students have.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I just graduated from high school where I was the DUX of my year. I was also awarded the Reuben F. Scarf Award for Commitment. I have always enjoyed school and I love to teach. I have a deep and recent understanding of the latest English Standard, Mathematics, PDHPE and Biology syllabus. I am currently undertaking a Bachelor of Media (Journalism and Communication) and Bachelor of Arts (Creative Writing and Humanities) at UNSW. I have a passion for writing. I am a patient, hard working, adaptable and enthusiastic teacher. I keep my lessons structured and organised. I believe that goal setting is important for students, as it gives them direction and allows them to prioritise exams and assignments. I have great time management, communication and interpersonal skills. I am also very dedicated to my work and can work flexible hours. I have the knowledge to help students of all ages (year 1 to 12) and skill levels learn everything they need to know to ace their assignments and feel fully confident walking into their exams. I provide students with the tips and tricks I found helped me the most in high school. I also have extensive syllabus notes and can provide students with a range of practice questions that we can work through together. I believe practice is key to achieving the best results. I can teach students how to write notes that correspond to the syllabus, which is a very important skill. I can teach online or in person. My ultimate aim is to make learning enjoyable and easier, provide helpful study tips and guidance, and help students achieve their absolute best.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

It is so important for tutors to adapt their method of teaching to the way the student learns. Every student not only has different needs and difficulties, but learns concepts differently. It is extremely important to regularly re-evaluate the student's objectives. Modifying your approach as a tutor to make the student feel comfortable and confident as a learner is essential. Communicating with the student's parents is vital in building a supportive environment where everyone can voice their concerns. Writing notes that correspond to the syllabus is another key skill that I can teach students. I find that working through practice questions with students always provides great results and boosts confidence levels. I am a very organised tutor and always write a lesson plan before tutorial sessions. My lesson plans include time to work on past learning gaps, current work and future content. I also make sure that I regularly report the student's progress, and this allows me to identify and target any weaknesses the student has with their subjects. I am very dedicated to my students and take my work very seriously. In order to succeed in your final HSC exam at the end of high school, the most important thing a student can do is be a consistent learner. When meeting my first student, I always start by building a strong foundation for learning, and teaching them various learning strategies that ensure success. I guide students as they progress through primary and secondary school, by helping them add to their learning foundation every year. This is the only way for students to understand the complex concepts learnt later in school and to be successful. I was the DUX of my year because I applied myself every year leading up to the HSC. I employed various learning strategies and worked hard, and I teach students exactly how to do this. I commit to every student and make sure that they feel fully confident when taking exams and completing assignments.
