What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I enjoy working through problems with students and helping them come to a conclusion on their own, so as to develop the skills in the process rather than just demonstrating the answer. I particularly enjoying working with students' specific strengths and weaknesses, and looking at their individual work to develop things they have already done. I especially enjoy forming relationships with students to make learning an enjoyable and not-too-stressful experience!
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I have strong skills in communication and patience. I am also used to working with children of all ages and am experienced in making learning enjoyable/fun for children. I also have experience teaching teens, and am very knowledgable in wider fields such as exam/assignment stress and preparation.
Most important things I can do for a student π
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is helping them to understand the work that they are doing in a school setting in a way that is specific to their learning style and helps them to feel comfortable replicating the same skills at school. It is extremely important that a tutor also helps a child to understand that just because they are struggling with something does not make them a bad student, unintelligent, or a lost cause. It is equally important to help a student in developing independent study skills, stress management techniques and self-confidence as it is academia.

Nothing much to say for this timeβ more summaries and discussion than tangible work done. Would be nice to hear some ideas from Tayla more as I know she has them (for Eng).

Connecting the visual to the conceptual was a little trickier, but we were getting there in the end! Also found it challenging to remember all the terminology but as it was the first lesson on this unit this is not surprising, and she generally picked it up pretty quickly.
Working well through the content, good understanding grasped from last lesson, not afraid to say when she's not sure, clearly thinking through the problems

Could work on matching the visual work (e.g. Venn diagrams) with the formulas to aid understanding of what those formulas represent (though progress was made here)!
