What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy when students have a 'light bulb' moment. I love seeing the look in their eyes and the smile of their face when they understand what it is they were working on.
This may sound strange, but I am very pleased when we get to a point where the student doesn't need me anymore. It means that I have taught them how to teach themselves and they can live their life constantly learning.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think my main strength is my enthusiasm towards learning, maths in particular. It is such a beautiful subject and sometimes it really is a different language. I hope to pass on my enthusiasm to other students so that they can see what I see. Most people think they don't like maths, but that is just because they don't understand it. I want to help people understand it and I think that I can phrase sentences and express topics in a fun, easy way so that students don't see learning as a chore, and instead see it as an enjoyable exercise.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is create a positive learning environment. Students need to feel safe and they should be excited to learn. If tutors create a happy, welcoming and productive teaching space, the student will be more willing to listen and participate. This includes always staying calm and never becoming frustrated, no matter how many attempts the student may need to understand and complete a question.
