What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I see working as a tutor as an opportunity to influence younger people positively, and pass on my knowledge and skills so more people can expand their knowledge and gain a passion for learning. I experience this when I'm teaching my private maths students, for example, where I try to exchange my thoughts and ideas with theirs, share as much as I know from experience, and gain their confidence and trust so that I can help them improve as much as I can. Subsequently, when I see their improvement, or when they do well in an exam, I feel as successful as they do in that moment.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Apart from achieving satisfactory results in the HSC, I am also an effective communicator. When I tutor students, I make sure to address the concerns of my students first, and I am clear and succinct when explaining difficult concepts. I also enjoy problem solving, which contributes to my passion for maths and science. I'm able to analyse any situation in a logical manner and select the best alternative to resolve an issue. Furthermore, I consider myself a creative and flexible person, which helps me work with a wide variety of students.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
A trait I consider to be very important as a tutor is being a good leader. They should be very responsible for their actions, meaning that they will ensure each tutoring session is effective for the student. They should also be assertive, trustworthy and mindful, which helps them offer guidance to other students. Lastly, they should keep an open mind, which allows them to adapt to different students.
A good tutor should bring their unique point of view to their company, whilst also working towards a common goal -- to help students improve and develop a love for learning.
