What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
One of my greatest satisfactions of tutoring comes from seeing students' excitement when they master a new concept or skill for the first time, particularly one that they have previously struggled with. It gives me great pride when students come back from an exam and eagerly tell me that they knew exactly how to answer the questions thrown at them. It is immensely rewarding to be a part of each students' development, to watch as they gain confidence in their knowledge and to help them realise their interests and potential.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Having a solid knowledge base is a prerequisite for any tutor, but beyond mastery of the theory, a great tutor is patient and encouraging. I believe these to be my assets. I am more than happy to use different approaches to explain concepts until I find one that works for the student. I teach in a judgement free environment, where students are reminded to not fear mistakes and to celebrate the little 'aha' moments. I take a genuine interest in students' development and I endeavour to not only be a tutor, but a positive role model who motivates students to take responsibility for their learning
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
A tutor should not just teach, but they should listen to their students, seek feedback and use that to improve their teaching. It is important to develop trust with students so that they feel comfortable asking questions, expressing their concerns and identifying topics that they may want to strengthen. In doing so, the tutor can gain a greater understanding of the unique needs of each student. Every student brings with them a different skill set and different learning preferences, so it is important for a tutor to tailor their teaching approaches to the individual.
