What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
After volunteering at the Homework Help Centre at Kogarah Library, I've come to realise what a rewarding experience it is to see students improve their abilities over time. I love working with kids and helping them in learning skills they found difficulty in mastering. Seeing them completing tasks and skills they previously would find difficulty in accomplishing brings a sense of achievement and happiness at the progress they have made.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Being a friendly person and effective listener, students are able to more easily open up to me about their weaknesses and what they are finding difficulty in. One of my strengths is that I am quite observant; I am able to evaluate situations, identify problems, and come up with creative and innovative solutions to address any issues a student may have. My high levels of patience and tolerance are also skills which are quite beneficial when dealing with children who are finding difficulty in understanding certain tasks, or are unable to maintain their focus and attention on the task.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
A tutor's main focus should be on helping the student improve their abilities and assisting them in overcoming their weaknesses. Good communication and a good understanding are essential aspects in ensuring a tutor is able to focus on the student's weaknesses and help them improve in the areas they most need to work on. Most importantly, a tutor should be able to encourage the student and motivate them to try their personal best. Having a student who is confident in their abilities and believes in themselves brings them halfway to achieving success.
