What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I hate rote learning and merely memorizing equations and algorithms. Through tutoring, I would love to help my student truly understand what these math equations and functions are actually about, why the algorithm is supposed to be like this and which problem solving strategy is most suitable for the specific question. I enjoy tutoring because I feel like experiencing the 'Aha' moments with my student, which can only be made possible through understanding.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

First, I am an experienced math teacher, with eight-year teaching practice in Shanghai, where high school mathematics teaching and learning is world-famous. Second, despite my international background, I have a quite good command of English. Not only am I being confident of my speaking and communication abilities, but I am also adapt at conceptionalising math ideas and elements, using analogies and pictures or any materials helpful. Lastly, I am a patient and cheerful person, with a good sense of humour. I did get along well with my previous students, so I believe I can be a good tutor as well

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

1. Help the student to build up good learning habits. For example, rather than answering the question right away, one should read the question very carefully and figure out the solving strategy accordingly. No rush in math learning and problem solving. 2. Give the student good learning suggestions to enhance their learning abilities. For example, to be competent in math, a student should have some schemes or algorithms in mind. The question is: what are they? How to keep them in mind? And what should we do if these schemes cannot help? 3. Help the student to cope with the everyday curriculum.
