What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy the satisfaction of when you are tutoring someone and something finally clicks and they start to understand it, especially if they have been struggling a lot with the concept.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I got a good mark in Maths Methods in year 12. Still, I don't think that being a good tutor is only dependent on having a good mark, and that often there are people who are much better at teaching, even if they perhaps did not achieve the best possible mark. These people make much better tutors for the majority of people. I think I also have the characteristics of this sort of person as I managed to help a few friends in year 12 understand the content and get the mark they needed, and also, people have said in some of my university tutorials this year that they think I am a good teacher.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think tutors need to be able to diagnose the cause of why a student does not understand something, so good communication skills are essential. However, having a good enough understanding of the content to be able to explain it in multiple ways is also a critical skill, whether that be graphically, numerically, with an analogy, or in several other ways.
