What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

The most enjoyable aspect of tutoring for me is problem solving. Each student learns differently and has a different base level of understanding. I believe that unique approaches must be used for each student when explaining content. Since each student requires a different approach, it becomes a problem for me to solve in figuring out the best method, which I love. This passion for problem solving is what led me to pursue a degree in software engineering

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

I believe engineering is not just about building products, but about creating systems. When you build enough systems, you understand the importance of flexible, efficient, and adaptable systems. This has led me to introspect and analyze my own thought process as a system. My key discovery was that my brain was an inefficient system without direction. By learning to optimize various systems, I've been working on optimizing my own thinking to have direction and become efficient. I believe I can guide students to do the same for themselves, find direction and become efficient.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is help them understand. Memorising content is useful, but without understanding, the brain soon discards it as unimportant. Understanding allows students to see the bigger picture and how concepts tie together. Memorising forces students into a box, where questions outside of what they’ve memorised can throw them off. Content should be taught like a story, with concepts explained in a chronological way so that everything ties together.
