What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I love passing on my knowledge to younger students and helping them become more confident and strong in their subjects. I also love how it helps me solidify my own learning, teaches me skills I otherwise would not acquire like communication, and provides new challenges every day to help students engage with content. My favourite part would be that moment when what I'm teaching gets across and confusion turns into understanding, which is the most important part of the learning process. With understanding of the topics, you are guaranteed to do well in any subject.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I think I am an excellent communicator and express concepts in a way that is easy to understand, to both visual and auditory learners. I am highly reliable and responsible. My students will receive my full support, encouragement and advice whenever they need it. I can also be motivating and will get students excited about learning. My customer service background has taught me fantastic people skills and I will tailor each tutoring experience to each student. Lastly, I care a great deal about students achieving their goals in their subjects and will work hard to make sure they happen.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think the most important things a tutor can do for a student is getting them motivated to work hard. It is important that the students themselves have a desire to improve. Another majorly important thing is a focus on understanding and confidence in the concepts rather than finding patterns in repetitive practice. Additionally, tutors should find the right balance between understanding and encouraging, and being disciplinary and strict.

About Meera

Education

I have a passion for learning, and it has formed a massive part of my life thus far. I do believe that passion translates to success, having graduated from Woodcroft College top of my year level and with academic awards and scholarships. I achieved A results in Specialist Mathematics (A+ on all tests), Mathematical Methods, and English Literature, as well as an A+ with merit in Geography. I love learning about both mathematics and nature, which has led me to enrol in an environmental engineering degree at the University of Adelaide.

Interests

My biggest passion is the environment, and finding ways to live more sustainably. I am also interested in politics and social justice, which resulted in me becoming a 2024 Social Justice Ambassador at Woodcroft College. Other hobbies include playing the piano and flute, reading, baking, bike riding, hiking and watching movies. Having a wide range of interests and extra curriculars allowed me to receive the AMPOL Year 12 All Rounder award in 2024, but also required good time management skills, which I am happy to assist my students with.
