What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I understand how daunting it can be when you look at a topic and have no idea what it's about. For me the satisfying part of tutoring is leading students to that moment where everything clicks. Seeing the confidence boost and watching my students shred through questions after that is awesome.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I am good at breaking down difficult topics to into simpler pieces. For example, quadratics. some students find it very hard to jump from lines to the idea of curves. I try to link back to the idea that the cartesian plane is just a plot from a table of values, and the result of plotting all of the values on x is a curve! There's a bit more to it but once students can feel familiar with a new topic things get a lot easier. I am also very patient. I understand that the same approach doesn't work for all students so I'm happy to change the way I explain a topic if a student isn't getting it.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Giving your student confidence and guidance is key. When teaching a concept, the biggest part in my mind is not only being able to establish an understanding for the concept to the student, but for the student to feel confident in their own knowledge. That initial growth in confidence in a subject is usually what fuels later motivation and enjoyment while studying. Everyone loves to do something they know they're good at. I also think a tutor should serve as a guide for their student. Setting out work properly, taking steps slowly and demonstrating the highest standard of work is important.
