For me, helping the student grasp the intuition of the concept at hand is perhaps the most important aspect of tutoring. This is particularly relevant for a subject like mathematics where understanding the theory is just as important as applying it to many different situations. Lack of effective instruction in this regard is unfortunately why mathematics is a difficult subject for many students. Overall, accessibility and simplification of key concepts are two essential components of effective tutoring.
