What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy the most (particularly about 1 on 1 tutoring), is that as a teacher I can really get to know a student. Being able to provide personalised tutoring that I know is going to be genuinely helpful (as opposed to throwing concepts at a 10-20 person class and hoping it sticks with most of them) is very rewarding.
Furthermore as a tutor, helping students understand difficult concepts or questions that they can later handle by themselves is an amazing feeling, something which again is only emphasised by being 1 on 1.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Firstly, I am very kind and patient teacher. It's totally okay if a student struggles as having gone through such difficulties myself, I will not become frustrated or upset, but instead work to help them overcome their issues.
Secondly, I would provide high quality teaching. Having HSC scores of 94 and 96 for extension 1 and extension 2 maths respectively and having taught James Ruse juniors in math mentoring programs, I know what concepts to teach, how to explain them and how to study so that with far less effort and time, students improve compared to going blindly off math textbooks.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important thing I can do for a student is to modify my teaching styles for each student's targets and learning style. No child learns the same or has the same needs and I believe catering to each student I can not only to improve understanding and capacity in one subject but develop high performing learning habits and a mindset that will help them not only in math but in learning generally.
