What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I always enjoy simply being helpful for others. With all learning, new concepts feel impossible and incredibly frustrating at first, but once you break through the initial struggle and concepts start to make sense, you immediately want to help others and let them know it's actually not that hard. With my previous tutoring experience, I felt gratified helping others make clear what they once felt confusing, as well as passing down wisdom that I wish I knew from the beginning.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strength is that I don't consider myself very naturally gifted. Things do not come that easy for me compared to others, so to make up for it, I learned proper study techniques, work ethic and learning tricks, which allowed me to excel. I understand where students get stuck because in all likelihood, I've been stuck there too, which better qualifies me to help out.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Based on my own favourite mentors, I feel the best tutors should not only be considering a student during the middle of a session. Tutors should also be thinking beyond the classroom. You can't tutor someone forever, so the most valuable thing to pass on to a student is knowledge of how to learn on their own. Whether that be sparking an interest in learning, study techniques, or identifying current shortcomings limiting a student's potential, the value comes from what happens beyond the limited study sessions you have booked.
