What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Tutoring provides a sense of purpose from being able to help others understand and develop essential learning skillsets that they could use to tackle problems.
I love being able to work with others through effective 1-on-1 communication, and guide students to unpack and connect ideas together. It's amazing to be able to have students find the "aha" moment.
More than that, I find it meaningful when students are able to develop confidence within themselves to succeed in their studies.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I develop empathetic communication and listening skills, being able to clearly understand students' needs or ideas that they find confusing. I adopt a gentle but directive approach to teaching, allowing me to uncover areas where they might not be confident on and
I would be able to do this by asking questions and getting to know the student's needs, strengths and weaknesses. After a lesson, I love to encourage students to revise on their learning, including using active study techniques to prepare for upcoming tests/exams.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
It's the tutor's responsibility to connect with the student and put in the extra mile to support their needs. Every student is at a different stage in learning, and it's about recognising that each person needs a different approach. This can only be achieved if the tutor understands the student, and develop a sense of trust and reliability.
It's not about forcing ideas on a student, but guiding them in a way that opens their mindset to new directions, then allowing them to use this thinking to tackle problems.
