What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
What I enjoy most about tutoring is the process of how I put in the effort working with my students and watching them evolve. From an academic point of view, I enjoy attempting to explain students a concept and seeing them understand it. Moreover, I enjoy working with my students and seeing them transform into learners for life. During the time spent with me, I often ask students the question 'why' and encourage them to practise this habit on anything around them. They are strongly supported to research, look up information to find an answer for themselves. I can provide guidance when needed.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I always put my feet into students’ shoes. I have been through the time that students are currently going through. Hence, I am always willing to listen to students’ thoughts, support them mentally along the way and encourage them to keep their heads in the process so they can reach success. Another strength that I have is that I set high expectations and goals for my students. I am passionate to achieve these goals and urge my students to act to reach them. I often compare students' understanding between two different states to let them see the difference so they are motivated to keep going.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is shaping the student's mindset about their capability of accomplishing something. A tutor should always be passionate about high achievement. The tutor should continuously convey to the student that a goal cannot be not achieved if effort is invested and hustle the student to take action to progress towards the goal. Another important thing is showing empathy to the student. In conjunction to hustling the student, the tutor should also be aware that there needs to be down time so the student can regain their performance.
