What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Although I have never personally tutored a student before, I have been tutored and understand the profound impact it can have. During my final years of high school, my tutor provided essential support and guidance, serving as a mentor and role model. This experience was incredibly valuable and helped me succeed academically. I am a patient and passionate person, eager to guide students and create a similar positive and supportive experience that I had. I believe in the transformative power of tutoring and am excited to help students reach their full potential.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strengths as a tutor lie in my patience, compassion, and understanding. I recognise that each student learns at their own pace and through different methods, whether visual, auditory, or practical. I am committed to taking the time to understand my students' unique needs and learning preferences. By doing so, I can tailor my approach to best support and guide them. My goal is to help students feel supported and confident throughout their educational journey. I am dedicated to creating an encouraging environment where students can thrive and achieve their academic goals.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be a consistent role model and source of support. A tutor should be someone the student can rely on, especially when they face challenges or feel stressed about their studies. Being available and dependable allows students to build a strong relationship with their tutor, fostering trust and confidence. Consistency in tutoring sessions helps students to grow faster in their education and develop a positive attitude towards learning. By being there for them regularly, a tutor can help students stay on top of their work, overcome obstacl

Layla picked up content really well, particularly when I used real life and/or visual examples to help her understand better. By asking Layla what certain definitions were such as mean, median and mode and repeating until she got them all correct was really effective and certainly improved her memory which will be great when it comes to tests next year.
Moving forward an area for improvement for Layla is multiplying and dividing. She is more than capable to get it but she just has a gap in this area. It is important for her know know up to 12 times tables and what number divides by what - as it will help her not only with getting answers correct when it gets more complicated yet to also increase her speed in tests.

Layla had a great understanding of the data, including histograms, bar charts and interpreting data. This was a reflection of the work and effort she had put in the past couple of weeks. Layla had a solid understanding of the different types of triangles / how to differentiate.
Layla's area of improvement was certainly regarding shapes. She has a gap regarding how to calculate the area of a shape e.g., triangle and square. Also needs to work on knowing the difference between 4 sided shapes. Although she has a good understanding of the different types of triangles, we need to further work on knowing the difference between SAS, AAS, SSS, SSA

Layla got a great understanding of LCM and HCF's as the lesson went on. She picked it up really well. We also came up with a good way to remember how + and - interact in equations. Layla certainly worked well with having a process to approach each question which allowed her to pick up the content quickly.
Moving forward an area of improvement would be roots and to the power of. The main focus area would be to focus on knowing what the common square roots are. Regarding the LCM and HCF, in future I would like to keep reiterating the definition of factors and multiples.

I was happy that Layla knew the difference between the denominator and numerator, which allowed her to use correct terminology when we discussed the questions. Layla picked up well the process of working through different types of questions. I found she understood better when we followed specific steps when approaching the question.
Layla needs further time spent on understanding fractions. As she had a gap in understanding fractions, fractions and whole numbers, as well as adding and multiplying fractions. Layla and I need to also work on how to simplify fractions e.g., when the larger number is on top and just in general.
