What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

My journey into teaching Maths began by assisting my sister, which I found incredibly rewarding. This motivated me to pursue tutoring, where I have accumulated over 500 hours of teaching. Subsequently, I obtained my qualification as a Secondary Maths teacher. I really enjoy Maths in general due to the intellectual stimulation obtained when attempting to solve a challenging question. I am conscious that most students aren’t like that so I bring a positive attitude into lessons & ensure I break down complex topics in a way they understand until they get that lightbulb moment and it all clicks.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

One of my key strengths as a tutor is my adaptability, tailoring teaching methods to suit each student's unique learning preferences for maximum effectiveness. I create an engaging lesson environment by asking questions to keep students involved and ensure understanding. Additionally, I foster a growth mindset, encouraging questions and helping students overcome limiting beliefs about their abilities. By addressing knowledge gaps and offering personalised support, I build students' confidence and show them they can achieve top grades with effort and determination.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

Tutoring is different to teaching due to its more personalised nature. Therefore I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to provide personalised learning and build confidence through tailoring lessons to each student's unique needs and preferences. This ensures maximum engagement and understanding. Additionally, addressing knowledge gaps and reinforcing strengths helps students realise their potential by seeing tangible improvements which increases their confidence levels and their belief in what they can achieve.
