What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
What I enjoy most about tutoring is sharing my passion for physics, maths, and science with other people. As someone who has always been the designated βteacherβ friend I often explain complex concepts and assist classmates with their queries, questions, and misunderstandings. Both academically and personally, I have ventured to learn all things STEM and through tutoring, I can spread that knowledge further. As a tutor, you share the struggle with the student and Itβs wonderful to see consistent hard work pay off. It's fulfilling to help students see complex topics as simple ideas.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I am comfortable and passionate about the subjects I teach. I can stay focused on tasks while maintaining a relaxed, non-stern environment. I create checklists and use active learning methods to ensure that students continually apply learning material. Another useful tool is explanation (by the students) which fortifies their knowledge and helps catch any gaps in it. Additionally, I provide effective study skills so that students can study efficiently alone both during and after high school. Through assisting others I have become quick to pick up on different learning styles.
Most important things I can do for a student π
For a tutor, three key actions are crucial. First, they must create a safe space where students can openly discuss their struggles and request alternate explanations. Second, ongoing communication is essential, to ensure the curriculum is thoroughly covered and to pinpoint and understand weak areas. This allows students to ask for repeated or different explanations comfortably. Lastly, tutors must adapt to feedback, finding new ways to convey information and preparing sessions tailored to each student's unique learning style. This ensures the tutor meets the student's needs effectively.
