What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I find joy in communicating variious perspectives of mathematical problems, broadening students' understanding and forming approaches to problem-solving. Witnessing the moment when a student grasps a concept is the most rewarding part for me, as I have successfully broadened their perception to the problem.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I have a profound passion for maths whilst also equipped with a solid understanding of various topics demonstrated by my performance in Extension 1 and 2, also university-level math courses like First Year Algebra, Calculus, and Discrete Mathematics. Despite lacking formal tutoring experience, I've informally taught math to friends, neighbors, and younger relatives, honing my patience and empathy in addressing challenging concepts. In addition, it has also develop my organisational skills breaking down complex problems into manageable steps, facilitating students' complete comprehension.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
A vital aspect for tutors is to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet each student's specific requirements. This approach optimises time allocation, enabling focused attention on individual weaknesses. Tutors should actively foster critical thinking skills, guiding students towards problem-solving rather than simply providing an answer. Central to effective tutoring is patience and empathy, as it entails offering constructive feedback on both strengths and areas for improvement, while nurturing a supportive environment for student growth.

Cameron did very well in his exam, with his mistakes only relating to non-linear equations. He's encouraged to review more stuff on non-linear equations as well as getting himself familiarised with cones as he also answered cone-related problems incorrectly in the exam.

Cameron's understanding in non-linear functions is fairly solidifed. With what I taught him, he now knows how to visualise what the parabolic shape of a quadratic would somehwat look like before actually plotting the graph.
Cameron is encouraged to get more exposure on the topics he feels least confident. This will consolidate his understanding and comfortability when he encounters it in exam conditions.

Yahya is encouraged to get himself expose to more and more question so that he is super comforatble for his exam.

Cameron was able to interpret and express information from two-way tables and tree diagrams fairly well. His ability to understand dependent and indepent events are also becoming exceptionally well, with him doing more questions relating to replacement and without-replacement scenarios. In the last 30 mins of the lesson, we also looked at faster methods to graph quadratic functions (parabolas).
Cameron is still encouraged to do more probability for general practice (the excersises I've emailed him is reccomended). With quadratics, he is encouraged to expose himself more to various questions so that he's familiar with approaches that can be asked in the exam.
