What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Tutoring gives me an opportunity to help students grow and develop good study habits for future success. I feel accomplished and satisfied once students are able to independently plan their own studies and actively learn from mistakes. As a tutor, my goal is to make my students feel comfortable, help them work hard and succeed. I believe tutoring is a significant commitment and that tutors have the responsibility to assist students in all aspects of their learning. When I see my students finding certain tips and tricks helpful, tutoring becomes enjoyable.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

As someone who did not receive amazing results in their junior high school years, i recognized later on that I was using the wrong study methods. I was working hard for long hours but was not achieving much improvement and i realised that i was not working 'smart'. I think this is the most common mistake high school students can make. Being a tutor now, i want to be able to assist juniors as well as seniors early on with these mistakes and give them crucial advice and study techniques that dragged my grades up drastically with the same amount of study time. My strength is being able to not only teach study concepts but also give my students confidence to minimise the silly mistakes and make their weaknesses their strengths.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be patient yet match the student's learning pace. Every student is different and it is the tutors' responsibility to recognize this and adhere to students learning patterns. If a student is struggling with a certain concept, I would try review this more often during the term and if the student is confident in a concept i would try to give them more challenging questions to work on. This really depends on each individual and i think the best and most important thing a tutor can do is really understand their students and be patient.
