What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Building rapport with a student that allows them to feel comfortable in a subject that, in the beginning, they struggle with/do not enjoy. I like to be able to support their development until they feel happier and more confident with the subject, which often translates to how they feel about themselves.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

Building a relationship with the student so that they feel they can be vulnerable (ask questions, be honest) and feel comfortable. I am particularly good at supporting those who really struggle with maths - building confidence with a mix of positive reinforcement and targeted questioning.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

Encouragement - focus on the positives to build confidence Clear guidance - a scaffolded breakdown when approaching topics, using a variety of methods to teach the topic (modelling, differentiated questions, visuals, real-life examples) Challenge - when a tutor knows their student well, they can set work that is very specific for their level. Challenging content is a good way to build confidence and make progress.
