What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

In my time as a maths and science peer tutor at school, the ability to simplify a topic that the student previously found difficult was extremely enjoyable. As they began to understand the theory and apply this new knowledge to the questions, I could see their confidence build in them over time, which would not only increase their marks but also cause them to gain a newfound appreciation for studying.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My strengths include my previous experience, working informally as a selective school tutor with high and low-calibre students in all levels of high school, providing them with the assistance they required to reach their goals. In this process, I understood the communication necessary for a quality explanation, but also the different teaching styles required for each student depending on their level, whether for example, they needed more focus on understanding content, or a better understanding of answering questions.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Whilst the tutor needs to teach both content and how this is applied to questions that may come in examinations, it is also their priority to become a mentor, teaching the student how to study and plan studying throughout the term, maximising their time, etc. I believe through my academic success which has come after a lot of experimentation, I can provide these extra tips to make sure that the student does not only learn, but understands how they should be learning, and how to effectively learn throughout their higher schooling.
