What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Watching young minds grow and knowing you have a small part in it. I love looking at matters using the various perspectives of those coming into it fresh.
Adapting your teaching by learning from various situations as well as the people/pupils you encounter therefore making it a learning experience for me as well.
Overall I have enjoyed working in the education sector due to a multitude of factors which could boil down to the joy of passing on knowledge knowing it could potentially change the world.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Persistence and patience, I have been in many situations where I have sat and explained concepts to students in detail.
I try and make the concepts as simple as possible and try a relatively new approach of active learning alongside applying the perspective of the student in various situations.
I have adapted my teaching style to have a balance of traditional and relatively new teaching techniques. Teaching at a tertiary level at Monash University and receiving consistent positive feedback does indicate that I am moving in the right direction.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I break concepts down into simpler forms and make them relatable so they are easier to digest. I work through issues while understanding the student’s point of view, which bodes well for a pupil’s development.
I build a relationship based on trust and respect whilst keeping it a bit fun as well. This goes a long way.
One thing that stuck with me from my experiences as a student was the teachers who encouraged learning outside the classroom (self-study) by tapping into the student’s interests. I believe this is essential to the role.
