What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
My tutoring journey began when I was fortunate to get a job in a local secondary school as an academic mentor. I found mentoring students and helping to bridge gaps in their learning very rewarding and was grateful to be able to make a positive impact to their progression in these subjects. I enjoy seeing a student be successful in tackling a problem that they were struggling to access/ understand before my tutoring.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am confident, reliable, hardworking and a good communicator. I also have a good sense of humour - a necessary trait when trying to engage some students. Throughout my teacher training year, and working in schools before and after, I was able to build positive working relationships with staff and students, as well as gaining extensive communication and teaching methods as I taught full classes. I would welcome the opportunity to tutor students in Sydney/NSW, help them to overcome their barriers to learning and assisting them to achieve an improved ATAR.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to instill confidence in the subject they are teaching. I've tutored students before who actually knew how to answer certain questions, but didn't think they did - this was their main obstacle to tackling problems in the subject. Furthermore, sometimes students need topics to be explained in a different way, a slow, step-by-step, well-communicated approach can be vital.
