What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
My favourite thing about tutoring is seeing students' confidence improve. It's incredibly rewarding to see. Watching a student confidently solve a problem which had previously completely stumped them feels great as a tutor.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
- Ability to explain a concept from multiple perspectives in order to accommodate different learning styles. Sometimes, explaining a concept from another angle is all a student needs for things to click into place.
- 4 yrs tutoring experience (Years 1 - 12) (Maths, English, Latin, Economics, Chemistry)
- 99.40 ATAR, 1st in grade Maths and English
- Experience with HSC and IB students
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to give them the confidence and strategies to tackle problems even when you, as a tutor, are not there. I do this by offering skills and strategies rather than answers, and allowing students to have a go at a problem themselves before stepping in.
As well as skills, confidence is paramount. Often, students under-perform because they are working themselves into a panic before an exam, rather than because they don't know the content. As a tutor, I do my best to foster confidence and minimise nerves and unnecessary pressure.
