Help the student visualise or truly understand the concept instead of having to memorise the equations. If a student understands the concept, it could become intuitive for the student to know how to use the equation. One other important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be encouraging and empathetic, build the student's confidence and…

Every student is a unique equation, and as a tutor, I thrive on the thrill of cracking the code to each individual's learning style. It's not just about being enthusiastic; it's about being a learning chameleon, adapting colors and strategies to fit the distinctive needs of each student. I listen—really listen—to what they're looking for, and…

Help the student overcome their fear, and develop new skills to improve and work on their weaknesses. Try to seek help when they need it and learn how to deal with new challenges everyday without fear. Communication is the key for everything. And I’m easy going with people and I’m also easy to share things with. So I believe the boy/girl…

Being patient. A lot of teachers get frustrated when students do not understand concepts the way they teach them. It is important to teach every student in their own way and be patient with the teaching process. Otherwise a student's confidence and motivation to learn is harmed. It is most important for a tutor to engage with the student, so that they will be more inclined to be attentive and take the lessons seriously. It is also neccesary to make the neccesary preperations required for the student, e.g background research for foreign topics/ or remodled questions, to suit the student's needs and allow for efficient…

In my view, the most important things a tutor can do is to build a positive relationship with a student which is the key to become an effective teacher. This is important because it is impossible to engage a student into learning without building a positive rapport with them. The other important thing is to always encourage them to keep trying and…

Repetitive teaching will help students remember the contents longer, and eventually, they will be able to naturally apply what they have…

A tutor can intiate the interest in studies in the student and get him/her out of the virtual box of fear that a certain subject is difficult to master. Local Reviews

Very professional company, lots of useful hints to get the most out of the tutoring. Would definitely recommend.
Loretta, Ermington

Inside ErmingtonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Aura revised division, fractions and decimals, and was introduced to interpreting graphs and angles while working through a NAPLAN Numeracy practice paper.

For Year 9, Hannah tackled trigonometry using the sine and cosine rules and reinforced her understanding of quadratic equations.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Ethan worked on exam preparation by focusing on linear equations involving algebraic rearrangement, bearings in trigonometry, and finding axes of symmetry for parabolas.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student repeatedly left homework incomplete, particularly in proportionality and coordinate geometry, resulting in confusion during quizzes—"she was unable to complete the homework for proportionality," noted a tutor.

In senior levels, another student's notes were often disorganized and scattered across loose papers rather than a dedicated notebook, making it difficult to review algebra strategies before tests.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 learner's untidy working with fractions led to calculation errors that weren't caught until prompted to write each step out. This lack of organized practice and written clarity caused gaps to widen between lessons and made feedback harder to apply.

Recent Achievements

One Ermington tutor noticed a Year 10 student who used to avoid asking for help now raising specific questions about tricky trig rearrangements, letting the session target exactly where she gets stuck.

In a senior session, another student who struggled with interpreting box and whisker plots last month is now confidently analyzing class data sets and even asked to explore financial maths next week.

Meanwhile, during a Year 4 lesson, a student who once rushed through operations slowed down after prompting, taking care to check whether division or multiplication was needed before solving each problem independently.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Ermington Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Rydalmere East Public School.
