What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy being able to explain things in different ways to help students grasp different concepts. I personally find being able to visualise the concept or apply it in everyday life makes it easier for me to understand the concept instead of simply memorising it. One example would be to determine the area of a composite shape, which can be calculated using addition or subtraction of various shapes. When I was teaching a student this concept, I drew the shapes out and tried to explained the idea visually.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

After finishing two years of Mechanical Engineering studies at UNSW, I have developed strong organisational skills, where I break each section into smaller tasks on a weekly basis. I have high adaptability when teaching students, coming up with different ways to explain a certain concept, as well as encouraging students by guiding them through on how to approach a problem when necessary.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Help the student visualise or truly understand the concept instead of having to memorise the equations. If a student understands the concept, it could become intuitive for the student to know how to use the equation. One other important thing a tutor can do for a student is to be encouraging and empathetic, build the student's confidence and motivate the student in problem solving and studies in general.
