What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I believe in giving each and every student the change to learn and grow. One of the most rewarding aspects of tutoring is the positive impact I can make on a students life, by letting them achieve their academic goals and gaining a deeper understanding of the subject.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I can help students overcome challenges, build confidence, and reach their academic goals. I'm flexible; I develop different learning plans and methods that cater to each student, allowing me to efficiently cover the necessary content for each student.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
A tutor must have the passion to share their knowledge and expertise through teaching, and be able to commit long-term to any student.

Aaylah's reading today went okay. With longer passages that contain more unknown words, she seems to drift off and lose focus. However, with shorter sentences that have simpler words, she is able to easily read out loud. She was able to read a passage and understand it well enough to answer questions on, and was also somewhat able to grasp the concepts behind rounding but might need some more practise. Using the whiteboard today helped a lot for Aaylah to understand how carrying addition works, and after some practise she was able to do double digit calculations with little to no guidance.
Overall Aaylah's struggles will simply be overcome with time and practise, so there is nothing really outstanding or concerning, so far. She does struggle a bit with reading the time, and so I will make a point of bringing extra practise for this next lesson.

Aaylah has been steadily keeping up with the math work, so she is able to read time and do single digit calculations quite easily now. In terms of reading, she is also steadily improving her pace, but does get lost/distracted during longer passages and sometimes struggles remembering new words. Overall her reading will, of course, continue to improve the more she reads.
This time I tried to focus more on showing her how to add and subtract using the column method, and Aaylah struggled to understand it. She was able to get the basic method, but doesn't yet understand how carrying works, so I will try to help her develop this understanding next lesson.

Aaylah has definitely improved from our last session, and does not skip words nearly as often, as well as being able to sound out most unfamiliar words herself. Aaylah thinks skip counting is quite easy, as she tries rushing through it, however when slowing down she is able to count quite well. For math, Aaylah is able to do single digit addition well in her head and with her hands, however is struggling to understand column-by-column addition, frequently mismanaging digits and not overall understanding it. This same issue came up when we went through questions on the hands of a clock, but by the end Aaylah was able to somewhat understand the conceptual differenced with each hand.
Aaylah encounters issues pronouncing whole sentences, as she does not know some common words, but this will easily be subdued with practise. Aaylah is also struggling with column-by-column addition, however this is understandable, since it is a big conceptual leap from simple mental arithmetic, and I am confident with practise she will learn to do it just as easily.

Aaylah was able to read out most words herself, but occasionally needed assistance when she lost her place in a sentence or encountered unfamiliar words. She was able to do single-digit addition and subtraction well, so we moved onto basic double-digit practise, where she encountered some trouble.
Overall, Aaylah seems to be a quick learner who would benefit from some extra practise. It's too early to say if there's anything major or specific to improve on - however I will try covering a more wide range of content next time.
