As these haven't yet been covered in this year's class, I wouldn't expect Alice to immediately grasp all of the concepts, but here are a few pointers: Different types of walks - check if this is clear during class and after homework - if not, review the types and attempt a few more questions to clarify it. She also had a good grasp of transition matrices and understood more advanced analysis of the recursion formulae to be able to sketch the overall graph for two-variable transition matrices. It appeared Alice had a full understanding of the earlier concepts in matrices during our quick review - this will be continued next week.
