What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The aspect of tutoring that is the most rewarding for me is being able to teach students in a way that I have always wished that I had been taught and mentored. I hope to add a touch of fun to my teaching and inspire rather than force knowledge which leads to mutual respect in the tutor-student relationship.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I feel as though I can completely understand the style of learning a student prefers solely by asking them a few informative questions in the first session and by hearing the way in which they explain their difficulties with the subject. This strengthens my approach as I can tailor my responses to their questions and wishes to allow the most efficient understanding. I am quite a relatable tutor as I have not always been an academic person, however, I discovered a mindset that changed my attitude toward study which I hope to share.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
- Consistent checking of student progress
- Reminders for sessions
- Keeping the student ahead of content in class
- Understanding the student's learning style
- Adding a personal introduction to every lesson
- Provide not only content-specific advice but study tips for particular areas and content
- Be aware of their future subject goals

Half the session was completed because Indiana couldn't focus for the second half. Just wasn't the day for focus which is completely fine as we all have our troubled days.

Her focus was wonderful this session. I saw that on her mathletics that there were questions such as blank + 2 =8 and then fill in the blank so I decided to introduce algebra (although it very early) and she seemed to understand the basics which was amazing.
still needs some work on times tables
Her focus was less optimal this session, however she is definitely making fast progress with multiplaction

fluency of times tables, she should try doing times tables more often with flash cards
She was very good at counting in 2's when she was concentrating.

This lesson proved difficult for Indiana, but I think she was just quite restless today which can happen because of her young age and because we were learning new things. Next week we will integrate more interactive maths techniques like cool maths games and mathletics.
