What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy tutoring as it gives me an opportunity to help people understand complex topics that took me a long time to comprehend and help them develop a passion and gain knowledge. It brings me a joy to inculcate enthusiasm and hopefully help students carve out their career path and be successful, as I firmly believe a good teacher is the first step to a fruitful life.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I believe that my strengths as a tutor are to empathise with a student, as I've been through similar things as a student myself. I'll never judge a student for any doubts, no matter how basic they are and be patient and try to explain the topic as many times as is required to ensure a good grasp on the concepts. I also believe that my style and methodology of teaching is effective as I've always been good at academics and I know how to explain concepts in a simplified way as I understand it, rather than using complex keywords.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

A tutor needs to be patient and build a healthy learning curve. One of the most important things for a tutor is to be encouraging and positive. Negativity can lead to resentment towards a subject and deflect the student from making a genuine effort to learn. A tutor also needs to be well-versed with the material so they can teach the student as per their own interpretation in a simpler, more interesting way.

About Shreya

Introduction to Myself

Hello! My name is Shreya Singhee, and I'm an international student currently in my second semester at the University of Sydney, where I’m pursuing a double major in Computer Science and Data Science. I have a deep passion for coding and enjoy working with languages such as JAVA, Python, and R. Academics have always been my strong suit—I consistently ranked among the top 3 students in my class throughout my school years and in doing so I've developed unique strategies and methodologies to study that I’m excited to share, to help students do their best academically. I'm looking forward to empowering students to innovate and discover their own paths to success.

My Philosophy as a Tutor

As a tutor, my philosophy is rooted in empathy and understanding. I believe that every student’s journey is unique, and I know from personal experience that learning can be challenging. I never judge students for their doubts; instead, I see questions as an essential part of the learning process. Having faced similar struggles myself, I’m committed to creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable expressing their uncertainties. My goal is to guide them with patience, helping them build confidence and develop their own effective learning strategies.

More About Me and Personal Interests

Outside of my academic pursuits, I’m passionate about basketball. I’ve had the privilege of playing on school teams, representing my state in national events, and even serving as a captain for multiple state-level competitions. Alongside sports, I’m a big fan of movies, TV shows, and music, and I've attended theatre classes for two years, winning awards for short film making as well as skits. I’m also honored to be a recipient of the International Students Award Scholarship, which motivates me to keep striving for excellence. Looking ahead, I aspire to work at a leading company like the Atlassian, where I can combine my technical skills with my passion for innovation.
