What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

My most enjoyment as a private tutor was when my students felt wowed or showed their understanding of what I taught. I love to see my students’ eyes when they are surprised by the solution I explain. Furthermore, I am constantly grateful when seeing my students grow and succeed. I still remember the feeling when my students messaged me to show their exam results (over 80% of a full mark) and said thank you to me. Their parents also mentioned that I inspired their children to be better in maths, making them review the lesson every time after class with me without their parents' orders.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My strengths are communication, flexibility, creativity, and time management skills. I can adapt my communication style to different ages to make my students feel warm to talk to me. I had experience as a maths instructor at Kumon, where instructors tailor instruction for individual students and freelance maths tutors. These roles allowed me to create an individualized study plan for my students, and I had a chance to teach students from 6 to 18 years old. I also used videos to make students understand the lesson quickly and added cartoons to a question sheet to simplify complex information.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

The most important thing a tutor can do for students is to create a positive learning environment. I encourage students' feedback and suggestions by co-planing with them to ensure they are happy with my updated teaching plan and help them feel connected to their learning. Also, it is essential to engage students in discussing issues when they arise and encourage students to ask for help. I found that listening to students’ feedback and adjusting my teaching style to their suggestions had built students’ confidence to discuss their learning progress or obstacles and more explicit goal setting.
