What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I like sharing my enthusiasm for learning with students. I enjoy seeing their progress and improvement, particularly the change in their confidence. I find one of the best feelings is when a student tells you how you've helped them and how proud they are of their achievements. For example, I had one student who struggled with basic literacy. I helped him with all of his subject and assignments, including his literacy skills. He went from D's and E's to A's and B's in less than 2 years, and had goals to study further in University. He even started to enjoy school again,
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I think patience, adaptability and persistence are my main strengths. I like to approach each student with fresh eyes, everyone learns differently and what works for one student won't necessarily work for another so it's important to adapt to their needs. For example I was tutoring one student in year 12 biology and her main goal was improving her test skills in preparation for her HSC (VCE equivalent), so I catered to her needs, going over past exam papers and helping her understand how to get the best marks and prioritise question time.
Most important things I can do for a student π
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is teach them skills they can use in life. It's not just about teaching them how to do a single problem, it's how to solve problems down the track. It's also about giving them the confidence in themselves, being confident means they will be less stressed and be able to do their best consistently.
