What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Tutoring was my first job as the eldest sibling and I have absolutely loved it ever since. I find huge satisfaction in working with someone and seeing their face light up when they grasp a concept or solve a question. That feeling has always kept me close to tutoring and teaching.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I always aim to help my students internalize concepts rather than focusing on rote learning. I believe in the importance of using common sense while problem-solving, and thus I strive to teach students to break down complex questions into solvable parts and tackle them.
I believe that a typical lesson should not last more than 2 hours in a sitting to avoid information overload. I believe that adequate practice and reiteration are key to retaining information and concepts.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe that the foremost quality that a tutor needs to have is patience and belief in the student's abilities. Often, the rewards of tutoring a reaped over a long period and not overnight.
Our main responsibility is to instill the belief in our students that they are capable of succeeding in their studies. Improving their confidence goes a long way in helping them excel in problem-solving and avoid errors.
Equally important is listening to our students and making the learning process a two-way street.

He was generally quite comfortable with being asked to solve problems. He was upfront about where he struggled. In general, he communicated adequately. We also talked about T/A, B/C, and P/P -- he seemed to try and implement those techniques.
He needs to improve his backchecking as he made a couple of errors while trying to copy the unchanged portion of the answer to the next steps. Also, a universal v local way of solving questions would help him identify the correct pathway to take while working on the answer. He also needs to be more diligent in keeping notes and having his materials ready for tutoring. P/P skills need to improve to make sure he has a good record of his past work.
