What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I have had no previous tutoring experience, however I do enjoy helping people understand things they are struggling with. I often try to make an effort to help my team mates understand parts of an assignment or a tutorial in order to help them develop their skills. I think tutoring would a very rewarding job; I would get a chance to help a student improve their confidence and ability in an area of weakness for them, and by doing so, improving their overall confidence.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I think one of my strengths as a tutor would be my interpersonal skills; I would strive to be a positive and friendly tutor. I have had previous experience in dealing with students through the Student Ambassador program for Curtin University. In the program I had a lot of opportunities to interact with students in a one-on-one scenario; I shared my own personal story and interacted with the students to provide peer-to-peer advice regarding tertiary education. In addition, I think that as a university student I would be more relatable to students, making interactions smoother.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is provide them with a relaxed and stress free learning environment. Often when a student isn't good at a particular subject they are afraid to ask questions or express their opinion. I think as a tutor it is essential to be able to be approachable, friendly and a good listener.
