What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love the small group or individual setting. I've been teaching main steam classes for 8 years and I love breaking away into groups where I can give my undivided attention to a student or students. I enjoy having the opportunity to understand a students weaknesses and work with them individually to overcome them. I often find with tutoring math that you can have many break-through moments with students and I love that aspect of the job.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I have taught mathematics to the highest level in the Irish education system and this has allowed me to have a very broad understanding of the mathematics taught at this level and to see the connections that run between the different stands. This has made me very aware of the need to emphasize the basics and teach using building blocks. While using this method for tutoring it is easy to travel backwards with a student to identify weaknesses/issues in a certain area of their studies and help them overcome them therefor aiding them in furthering their understanding in that area.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Help them realize their capabilities, make them confident in their knowledge and instill a joy in doing math. Once a student is comfortable with me as their tutor and we have developed a level of trust I find it much easier to push them forward with their studies and help them achieve their goals. A student feeling like they are making progress is key in my opinion.
