What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
My favourite thing about tutoring is when the student begins to understand the work. The happy look of realisation on how to do the work makes me so happy because the hard work that they have put in is paying off. Whenever I was helping my brother with math, I felt so happy to see that he was slowly becoming more confident in his skills as he began to understand the work more.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am a very patient person, so I will happily explain the question/concept to the student as many times as it takes for them to understand. I can use my strong communication skills to explain the concepts in a way that the student can easily understand, and I will listen carefully to any questions or worries that have about their skills. These skills will allow me to identify what the student needs to improve on so that I can tailor my lessons in a way that will benefit them.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
One of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to encourage them to ask questions. I find that sometimes my brother would be embarrassed to ask me to repeat a concept, so I would ask if there was anything he didn't understand and I would happily repeat myself if he wanted. This allowed him to be less afraid to ask me questions, and I would hope that this would help my future students as well. A lot of students are more worried about their scores than actual improvement. I want to emphasise to my students that improvement in their understanding of math is the most important.
