What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Tutoring started for me as a means for revision, teaching others the same maths which I used on a day to day basis was excellent in learning the material. However, over time, I enjoyed teaching others. Whether it was the "finally!" moment, or the excitement after solving a difficult problem, there was a sense of fulfillment in teaching my peers and children. It almost gave a sense of purpose for me, similar to the joy of being a parent. This feeling is priceless, and is truly, what I enjoy most about teaching.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Coming fresh out of high school, I believe there is a sense of relatability between the students I would be tutoring. Although I did well, I did occasionally struggle in certain areas. Whether it was simply learning the basics behind the chain rule or how I could use a class pad. As i know these struggles first hand, I believe I would have a more in depth understanding of students' own problems, how to identify them as well as devising a solution. I also have cultivated throughout high school, strong interpersonal skills, and patience in dealing with people. Key in tutoring any age group.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
In my personal opinion, the most important thing a tutor can offer a child is confidence in themselves. Often I see my peers struggle test after test, unsure about their work ethic and their self worth. This not only degrades their mental well being but eats away at their studies, making them feel unmotivated. I too fell in a slump like this. In my case, it was my dad. He showed me I could do it. I could do any question I put my heart and mind to. I believe it is a tutor's duty to build confidence in a child, allowing for independence. Not dependence on the tutor.
