What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I think the aspect of tutoring most enjoyable to me is seeing my students succeed.
I ofcourse understand success is a vague term but to me its any improvement past the student's original level of acheivement. For me I feel a lot of kids reject the concept of studying due to either two reasons; lack of interest in the subject, or lack of motivation due to non effective techniques that don't result in marks. As such I enjoy helping students to come up with a system that works for them and set them up for success throughout their academic life.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think my strengths are;
1) The ability to boil down large topics into need to know dot points to reduce time spent on learning unnecessary content and increase time spent on practice which is what makes the difference in test or assesment situations.
2) Patience and persistence in aiding the student to achieve their academic goals.
3) Ability to form a strong rapport with the students
4) My focus on problem solving based learning which makes a difference in discriminator questions during assesments
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important things a tutor can do for a student:
1) Fix foundational errors and consolidate all areas and topics of the subject studied
This is the content stage
2) Get the student engaged with practice problems allowing the student to gain familiarity and proficiency with the content and the nuances of answering test questions to secure full marks.
This is the practice/consolidation stage
3) Iron out common areas of mistakes (arithmetic and reading the question, silly mistakes) in addition to test ettiquette and performance tips
This is the final perfecting stage
