Really tired, unfocused, mistakes everywhere. Forgetful, techniques covered was forgotten barely two questions later. Aaron needs to learn to focus through fatigue, both to account for the multi hour exams for HSC and to allow Aaron to perform under less idea circumstances
Still recalls most foundational topics like fraction arithmetic, bracket expansion (sometimes), some understanding of factorisation

Gets increasingly frustrated with more difficult questions. Was unable to recall even bracket expansion and basic fraction arithmetic even though those are topics Aaron was quite comfortable with and have shown mastery over during the warm up revisions. Aaron needs to work on understanding the concepts rather than mimicking operations, often have great trouble explaining concepts or techniques in his own word even when he claims to have understood Doesn’t remember anything from last lesson, Aaron should revise and practice in his own time for best results Trouble communicating clearly, Aaron often uses vague phrases such as "this thing is in the way" or overly generalised explanations when asked for thought process, the ability to communicate clearly and using exact academic phrasing would be helpful for tackling the highest lv extended response questions, and can help Aaron become more organised in his thinking
Still able to recall basic quadratic factorisation techniques Getting faster at bracket expansion
Still able to recall basic quadratic factorisation techniques Getting faster at bracket expansion
Doesn’t remember how to factorise, the ability to take out and recognise common factors is essential for algebra Don’t understand how to cancel out factors in fractions either. Still making rudimentary mistakes like dividing the numerator but subtracting the denominator. A lack of understanding that Aaron seems rather disinclined to correct. Similarly, Aaron doesn’t understand why a number divided by itself is 1 but subtracted by itself is 0. It’s important to try to understand the logic, route memorisation should not replace true understanding. If Aaron does not actively work on understanding, there is little anyone can do to help

Aaron seems to have recognised algebraic techniques applications in fractions. This would mean that Aaron is starting to demonstrate an understanding of algebraic techniques necessary for higher lv maths
Aaron is able to define goals to work towards when solving problems, name the steps that would need to be taken to reach those goals, and even tell me what operations are needed to do so. However Aaron seems completely stuck at every one of those steps unless prompted w questions like “what is your game plan” and “can you think of anything you can do to make that happen”
