I’m Abi, a 24-year-old backpacker originally from the stunning landscapes of Wales, now soaking up the sun and endless horizons of Australia. I have recently finished travelling the East coast and I am eager to settle down in Sydney and find some work to broaden my experiences. I am always open to new challenges and embrace every opportunity that comes my way. My journey here is driven by a thirst for new experiences and a love for the vibrant Aussie lifestyle. I’m a lively, confident soul who’s always up for a challenge—whether that’s tackling a new sport, exploring hidden gems, or diving into exciting projects. I am well organised and thrive working in fast paced environments.
I hold a First Class Honors degree in Bachelor of Arts in Primary Education with Qualified Teaching Status (QTS). This academic achievement equipped me with the comprehensive knowledge, skills, and professional values required to excel as an educator. My degree program blended theoretical insights with practical teaching experiences, covering essential areas such as assessment, behavior management, lesson planning, and supporting children with special educational needs (SEN). I explored key child development theories and frameworks, some of which included Bloom’s SOLO Taxonomy, Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development, Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, and Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory, which further informed my understanding of children’s learning and well-being from birth to 19 years. During my teaching career, I have taught across the Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2, working with children aged 3 to 11, including those with special educational needs (SEN). Additional to this, I have 1 year 1-1 tutoring experience tutoring maths to grade 7 students.
My tutoring approach is centered around creating a friendly, approachable, and supportive environment for my students. I believe that learning should be an enjoyable experience, so I strive to build a comfortable atmosphere where students feel confident to ask questions and express themselves. I am hardworking and dedicated to helping each student achieve their full potential, tailoring my methods to suit their individual needs. Above all, I am patient, ensuring that every student progresses at their own pace and receives the encouragement they need to succeed.
