I think the most important thing a tutor can give a student is confidence. However, this is not just a feel self-assurance in their learning but a confidence and self-security to be wrong. The imperative of tutoring is not to build knowledge but to create an environment for learning, this means allowing students the freedom to express their thoughts and ideas with confidence, without fear of being ridiculed for getting a wrong answer.
