What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
Listening to students about what interests them and why they find certain areas of their work difficult or intimidating. As an aspiring early childhood educator, it interests me how different students respond to different activities and teaching styles.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I recognize that as a tutor I need to personalize my teaching techniques according to the student for each session to be effective. As a recent school leaver I am able to see the lesson content through the perspective of the student, in order to encourage curiosity and enthusiasm. When it comes to teaching particularly difficult concepts I can be a patient motivator as well as a good listener, who can encourage students to recognize their strengths and by open-ended questioning, can identify the areas they need to pay more attention to.
Most important things I can do for a student π
I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student in primary or high school education is to instill confidence in them to become a curious learner. In order to progress in their academics, students need to feel as though their learning goals are attainable. A tutor can encourage a positive outlook on grades, to foster the belief that they exist to track the student's progress rather than to indicate their current and future capabilities.
