What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I mostly enjoy the rewarding feeling of being a part of someone's success and progression. In school, I had a friend who couldn't understand what completing the square was in Math methods. But after going over many questions, and building the skill step by step it felt really rewarding to see him able to do questions by himself. I also enjoy being a person the student can look up to, and go to for help whether that be with school or not.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I think as a recent high school graduate, I know how to relate to the student and am aware of which areas of content are most important to focus on. As someone who had many tutors in year 12, I know the best tutors simplify things and accommodate towards the students strengths. By making things easier to understand I know the student will be more motivated. My other strength is that I enjoy the subject I teach too which makes me patient and empathetic towards student. I understand that high school can be stressful so I am always open to talks outside of study. I can also help in my free time.
Most important things I can do for a student π
I think the three most important things a tutor can do for their student is:
1. Get them interested and motivated about the subject. By getting them to enjoy the subject, they are more open to process and remember information. This will also translate to improvement in classes in school and their own study.
2. Relieve stress and worries. I found that my tutors were often more approachable than my teachers. I think tutors should be there for students and build rapport with them.
3. Simplify things and improve their study methods. I believe its important to adapt content to the student.
