The most important thing a tutor can do for a student, not to just explain a certain problem but to help them understand the concept behind it, explain to them why they are doing it. Students need to be motivated, without motivation students lose the desire to learn. I feel that if students understand why they have to do it maths or English suddenly doesn't become a chore it becomes an experience, that they will cherish for a lifetime.
